Large Victorian oak cased Barograph with an ogee shaped carved apron above the double chart drawer with turned knob.
‘Bamboo’ pillars supporting the case with carved caddy top, heavily bevelled glass to all panels and standing on carved bun feet.
Brass base plate signed ‘Short & Mason, London’ with eight vacuum chambers linked to the recording arm with pen set.
Eight day movement signed ‘Gluck, Barograph and Recorder Co. Ltd’. C.1870
‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Short & Mason as working in Hatton Garden from 1860 to 1900 and beyond. They specialised in Barographs and Barometers.
