Object Description
Circa 1870, exhibition quality Victorian birds eye maple kneehole pedestal desk. The top with pale green leather writing surface with embossed gilt tooling. The 3 frieze drawers with finely turned knobs, ebonised lines and mahogany-lined drawers (sign of quality). The brass locks with makers name ‘J. T. Needs – 100 New Bond Street’ and ‘Late J. Bramah – 126 Piccadilly’ with royal warranty mark. Beneath are banks of 3 further matching drawers flanked by pilasters with moulded and ebonised decoration, over enclosed plinth bases. The sides of the desk with ebonised panels and with a polished back.
