Object Description
A Very Good Quality Large 19th Century Burr Walnut Dressing Table Mirror, Having Replacement Mirror Plate To Arched Swing Frame With Attractive Moulded Decoration, Raised On Elegant Carved Scrolling Supports Over Superbly Figured Stepped Platform Base.
Dressing table mirrors, often referred to as “toilet mirrors”were made from the beginning of the 18th Century onwards.
Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities.
This example is slightly different to the more formal georgian examples which we normally have in stock, but we found it particularly attractive due to the lovely carved decoration and superbly figured burr walnut veneers. It is also a very good practical size and is simply a very nice, but functional, piece of antique furniture.
Although originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table it is of course most versatile and would suit a whole variety of locations around the home.
As is pretty much standard on these items the mirror plate is replaced, but not brand absolutely brand new and it is therefore very much fit for its original purpose. Overall the item is in very good condition.
As with all the items which we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in our workshops, by our highly skilled furniture restorers, before being offered for sale, ensuring that it is ready for immediate use.
