A decorative Victorian era cast iron decorative railing panel by George Wright & Co, Rotherham (stamped). This is one of various similar pieces we have available for sale, each usable as individual decorative panels or together as a balcony or garden railing.

This 19th century iron panel is ornately cast with an abundance of scrolling foliage. Having stood the test of time for more than 135 years, this antique cast iron railing panel is a piece of reclaimed history for your property, looking beautiful as part of a traditional English garden scheme or a heritage feature of a modern home.

George Wright & Co, Rotherham

George Wright & Co was established in Rotherham in 1861, having previously traded as Crichley, Wright & Co from 1854. The business incorporated into a limited company in 1905.

The firm manufactured a range of decorative cast iron pieces including stoves, ventilation grates, chimneypieces, gates, railings and various other works of ironmongery.

George Wright Ltd continued production into the 20th century; an advertisement from the South Yorkshire Times can be seen in the 1st June 1979 edition.

Object Condition

Good structural condition. Light surface rust and historic repairs.

FROM THE M50 / ROSS-ON-WYE

At the end of the M50, take the A40 towards Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Take the A49 Hereford Road (third roundabout after leaving the M50). Ignore the first two signposts for Wormelow, stay on the A49 for approximately nine miles and take the next left turn after passing the Pilgrim Hotel, signed A466 Wormelow. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.

FROM A49 HEREFORD

Follow the A49 south from Hereford for approximately five miles. After the uphill section at the Callow, there is a layby on your right followed by one on your left. Take the next right turn onto the A466 signed Wormelow / Monmouth. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.
