Object Description

A decoratively designed Victorian cast iron fire grate, circa 1890. Highly decorative, this antique fire grate is ornamented with a striking lion head to the backplate between a pair of raised paws to the front, each clasping copper spheres. This makes for a dramatic and imposing design that instils any period home with grandeur. Encompassing a blend of styles, decorative bars and scrolling legs to the front are evocative of Arts and Crafts designs of the mid-late 19thcentury. At over 130 years old, this Victorian cast iron fire basket has stood the test of time. Finished in a black graphite polish.
