Object Description
Victorian diamond drop earrings. A matching pair, set to top with a cushion shape old mine diamond in an open back cut-down setting, two in total with a combined approximate weight of 1.40 carats, suspended with a drop shape old mine diamond in an open back cut-down setting, two in total with a combined approximate weight of 1.75 carats, each encircled by thirteen cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back cut-down settings, twenty six in total with a combined weight of 2.22 carats. The total approximate carat weight is 5.37 carats to an elegant articulated drop earring, flowing with movement, featuring stylised claw detail, a smooth gallery and open backholing, fitted to reverse with a secure shepherd’s hook, approximately 2.75cm in length. Tested yellow gold and silver, circa 1880.
