Object Description
Victorian marquetry wall barometer and thermometer
English, 19th Century
Height 98cm, width 25cm, depth 7cm
This elegant piece is a fine example of Victorian period craftsmanship, and a demonstration of the taste for scientific knowledge that prevailed during the period. The piece is traditionally formed, with a circular barometer below and a thermometer above. The wooden surface of the piece is finished on occasion with marquetry in exotic woods, set into geometrical and floral patterns. The dial of the barometer is signed ‘F. Myers, Nottingham’.
