Object Description
Victorian Teak Folding Pole Library Ladder. This example is executed in Teak which is both very hard and strong. The clever mechanism has all six brass capped rungs hinged into the sides of the pole so that it can be folded into the body of the pole thus creating a metamorphic space saving ladder. The pole has a hook and eye at one end and a brass bolt at the other so it cannot open by mistake when being carried. These ladders are sometimes referred to as elephant pole ladders.
