Object Description
A middle of the 19th century brass and mahogany three drawer telescope and stand.
The telescope comes in its original mahogany box that has a label for W Callaghan on the inside of the lid and is fitted to hold the telescope, the stand and the other pieces.
The telescope is stamped with the maker’s mark for William Callaghan, 23A New Bond Street, Corner of Conduit St, London”.
The telescope is held in the folding stand by a clamp and tightening screw.
Also in the box is a small mahogany and brass eyepiece that has a very dark lens probably used to look at bright objects.
The telescope is in good but used condition, with some marks to the outside of the box. (Circa 1860)
