Object Description

Victorian wool work embroidered picture of a tiger. The embroidery is worked in wool on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches. Pictorial scene of a tiger in a tropical landscape. Framed in an old rosewood veneer frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with chipboard. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Object Condition

Good. No holes. No stains. Minor stitch losses to the ground. Slight sagging and loose threads above tiger’s head and shoulders. Ground repaired in this area. Otherwise, neatly and evenly stretched. Frame has had some repairs to missing veneer.
