Object Description
Vintage Burmese sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre with a round old cut natural unenhanced Burmese sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.00 carat, encircled by eight drop shape brilliant cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 1.50 carats, further adorned with eight rectangular baguette cut diamonds alternatively set in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 0.40 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.80 carats, to a striking cluster design with curving claws, a linear openwork gallery and shaped open backholing, the tri-split shoulders lead through to a solid ridged flat shank. Marked 18 carat white gold, circa 1970, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #79206-69.
