Western Asiatic Amethyst Scaraboid with a Horse and Aramaic Inscription

Object Description

A fine Western Asiatic amethyst scaraboid with a plain domed obverse. The reverse has been incised with a stylised image of a horse head and four Aramaic characters. The amulet is pierced vertically through the centre for suspension.

Date: Mid 1st millennium BC

From the private collection of the late Mr S.M., London, UK, 1969-1999; thence by descent.
