Object Description

A Very Good Quality 19th Century, William IV Period, Mahogany Library Armchair Of Good Bold Proportions, Having Upholstered Scrolling Back And Arms With Moulded Decoration, Over Generously Proportioned Seat, Raised On Faceted Turned Front Legs And Incredible Stretched Sabre Legs To Back.

This chair dates to the late 1830’s and is typical in design with regards to the elegant scrolling features and the turned legs. An exceptionally unusual feature however is the kicked, or stretched, legs to the back which really add something to the elegance and presence of the chair.

It is also of bold, generous proportions and comfortable to sit in for any person of any shape or size. It can definitely be described as a comfortable chair to sit in.

Perfect for a whole variety of spaces around both the home and office this chair would really stand out, whilst at the same time offering a more than comfortable place to sit for whatever period of time is desired.

Overall the condition is excellent with a few very minor old repairs and restorations which are to be expected on a functional piece of furniture of this age and overall the description can certainly be described as good. As with all items which we offer for sale the chair has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers, where it has simply been cleaned and naturally wax polished in the traditional fashion.

It is also worth noting that the upholstery has been recently carried out and therefore both the fabric covering and inner linings are all in excellent condition.
