Object Description
A rare 19th century mahogany fusee timepiece wall clock by Thurlow, Ryde.
The face is most unusual in that it is polished mahogany with a studded border and with gilt metal Roman numerals.
The cast brass bezel is secured with a latch. It is fitted with heavy beveled glass.
Henry Thurlow is listed in the 1881 census as a watchmaker at 55 Union Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight. His father Edward Thurlow was also a watchmaker and jeweller at 54 and 55 Union Street.
The fusee timepiece movement is shown prior to its overhaul.
