Object Description

A set of six York antique Victorian sterling silver teaspoons which have been designed in the fiddle pattern style with plain well made bowls and handles. These spoons have clear intertwined initials on the front of each spoon which are original to the period. They would make a useful addition to a collection.

James Barber and William North were York silversmiths and were only registered with the York assay office. As often with York silver, the town mark is that of the crowned leopard’s head (The actual York town mark is very rare). The crowned leopard’s head was not in use in London at this date.
