Winsor Birch specialises in British and European Art, encompassing paintings, works on paper and sculpture from the 18th – 20th centuries. We have a dedicated focus on works by British, Scottish and Irish artists from the Victorian period through to the mid-20th century, while also presenting important works by British and European masters from Sir Joshua Reynolds to Camille Pissarro.
We also work with select contemporary artists practising in Britain and Ireland. Of note has been the gallery’s rediscovery of Henry Orlik (b.1947), a visionary Surrealist and Quantum painter, whose extraordinary paintings have led to sell-out exhibitions and generated extensive press coverage.
Winsor Birch was founded by Grant Ford, an independent fine art specialist, advisor and senior picture specialist for the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. He was formerly Senior Director at Sotheby’s, with a 30-year career leading the auction house’s British & Irish Art Post-1850 department. Charlie Minter joined Winsor Birch in 2025 after 15 years as a specialist within Sotheby’s British & Irish Art department and as a Director at a leading UK modern and contemporary gallery. Together, they bring a passion for their field and work closely with private and institutional clients, offering trusted advice on buying and selling within the national and international marketplace.
Our inventory ranges from entry-level to museum-quality works. All artworks are available to view at our Marlborough gallery, in London or onsite viewings within the UK by appointment. We regularly exhibit at art fairs in London and the UK.
We are strongly motivated to make our exhibitions and art market services friendly and approachable to all, considering first-time and seasoned collectors alike. We would be delighted to hear from you.
