Object Description
A large silver punch bowl with original ladle. Fully hallmarked for the luxury retailer of the period, William Leuchars, this piece was made by Hukin & Heath in 1885. This is a classic aesthetic piece, the design undoubtedly inspired by Christopher Dresser- the feet of the bowl and lines of the ladle handle have a modernity that contrasts with the Japanese style of the bowl. The punch bowl form is, I believe, inspired by a lotus seed pod. Both the bowl and spoon are of the same make and date and are a good heavy gauge of silver in excellent condition.
