Object Description

A fine English double fusee library clock with platform lever escapement of small size.
The rosewood rectangular case has five inset glass panels and is raised on an ogee moulded plinth base and four brass bun feet.

The 4-inch engine turned gilt brass dial is elaborately engraved with scrolls, flowers and leaves and has a Roman chapter ring and blued steel moon hands. It is signed Brockbank & Atkins between XI and I.

The 5-pillar, 8-day chain-driven double fusee movement strikes the hours on a coiled gong and its original jewelled lever escapement is visible through the top bevelled glass. The backplate is signed and numbered Brockbank & Atkins, London: 2137.
