Head was first produced as a printer’s proof alongside the vast ‘Two Standing Figures’ on linen as evidenced in a magnificent set of photographs documenting Zika & Lida Ascher with Moore in their studio working with screens, dyes & squeegee. Only ‘Two Standing Figures’ & ‘Reclining Figure’ were then actually produced in editions. Head was used eventually in 1989 as a textile. The original drawing in pencil, wax crayon, coloured crayon & watercolour from Moore’s sketch book ‘Textile Design Sketchbook 2’ along with the later produced textile serigraphy in five colours on woven cotton was acquired by The Henry Moore Foundation in 1990.
