Object Description
Superb pair of Victorian Tassle drop earrings. A matching original pair, each set with a vivid Ruby surrounded by four seed pearls on a domed turqoise blue coloured, enamel oval shaped central section. Pearls and Rubies in closed back grain settings. The central oval shaped section is highlighted by twisted rope borders, tiny golden orbs and intricate white enamel work. The central oval section is fitted to the bottom with eleven articulated, graduated fringes which hang in elegant pointed tips. The earrings are suspended from two cylindrical tipped orbs, with a bow shape in white enamel work, twisted rope borders and further golden orbs. Tests yellow gold, circa 1890. In an original fitted deep green Victorian case.
