Established in 1798, J. Mccarthy Ltd began life as a pawnbrokers in Strutton Ground just off Victoria Street in the heart of Westminster.

We traded at this location for over a century, until one fateful night in November 1940 during the blitz the shop was destroyed by a German bomb and the future of Mccarthy’s and indeed the country was in doubt.With only some cracked French porcelain salvaged from the wreckage, we found our new home just meters away at 11 Artillery Row and set about rebuilding the shop as London was rebuildt around us.We still trade from the same shop to this very day and are privileged to be able to celebrate over 200 years in business.
