Object Description

A William Haseler silver photo frame dated Birmingham 1905 and almost certainly retailed through Liberty & Co.
The frame is designed with flower heads that I believe are representative of cow parsley. I cannot identify the designer and I don’t believe the frame is by one of the usual candidates of Archibald Knox, Oliver Baker or David Veazey. I think most likely it is by one of the less well known Birmingham School designers/artists occasionally employed by Haseler. It is nevertheless a striking design.
The frame is simply produced using repousse sheet silver nailed to a wooden back. It carries the design registration number 445513.
Condition is original and very good. Note that the frame is designed to be wall hung, and does not have a stand though I am sure it could be readily adapted. There is a repaired crack to the removable wooden backboard that would not be seen once hung.
